Atiku to Saraki - Join PDP now

Former VicePresident, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has urgedPresidentofthe Senate, Sen. Bukola Saraki, to jointhe Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as he resigned from the AllProgressivesCongress (APC).

Abubakar made the appealin astatement issued byhismedia aide, MrPaulIbe,on Tuesdayin Abuja.
He said that hereceived thenewsof Saraki’s resignation fromtheAPCwith great joy, saying that Saraki’s ordealin APC wasalltoo familiar to loversofdemocracy in Nigeria and aroundthe world.
“Leaving a party whichmaliciously prosecutedhimand subjected himto the most degradingtreatment, notwithstanding hisstatus as the nation’s number three citizen, took courage, and I commendhim.
“What the APCdidto Saraki is what they havealsodoneto Nigeria as anation. They havedegraded our democracy and our economy.
“Bukola Saraki is aproductofthe PDP, under whose banner hebecamea Presidential Adviser, Governor andSenator. The PDP’s ideology and political philosophy isconduciveto Sen. Saraki’s political leaning.

“I therefore notonlywelcome Sen. Saraki’s resignation from the APC, I alsourge him to go onestepfurther andjointhe only party capable ofenshrininggenuinedemocracy in Nigeria aswell as lastingeconomic progress.
“ I urge SenatorSaraki to joinour great party, the PDP,’’ he said.
Newsmen report that Saraki onTuesday, announcedhis exit fromtheAPC,but did notindicate thenew party hewasmoving to.
“I wish to informNigerians that after extensiveconsultations, I havedecided to takemy leave oftheAllProgressives Congress (APC),” Saraki said onhisTwitter handle.
